Week of November 21st

This will be a short week at Preschool!  No School on Thursday!

We have some great news!  Our morning preschool class will be splitting into two groups beginning on November 28th, the Monday after Thanksgiving break!  Breaking this class into two groups will be great for the students.  It will allow us to spend more one on one time with them and promote a wonderful learning experience for all of them!  I am very excited!  Please let me know if you have any questions about this.  I have talked with the parents of students who will be switching to the Monday Wednesday Morning class.  Thank you for being so accommodating!

The past few weeks have been very busy in our room!  Sorry for the delay in getting a post up!  Lots of things happening here at school between ECFE Classes, Conferences, and Preschool I haven't had much time to post on the blog!  I do have a few pictures to post showing what has been happening in our room the last few weeks!  The afternoon class has been learning about their families, neighborhood and community the last few weeks along with Halloween Projects we did.  In the morning we have been learning about our families as well as Halloween and this week we are focusing on Dinosaurs!  We will be making Dinosaurs eggs!

Wanamingo Fire Department!!

The Wanamingo Fire Department will be coming Thursday!!!  The kids are so excited!  Can't wait to post more pictures of your little ones!

Our week September 26-29

What a great week to learn about the changing season!  We were able to go for a walk to see all the changes!  The leaves were falling, the air was cooler, the leaves colors were changing from green to yellow, red,and orange.  We also saw pumpkins!  At group time we read many stories about fall and leaves, but we also identified many words and items that begin with the letter L!  The kids love this activity, maybe something you can try at home! Our letter of the week this week was the letter L and our number was 2.  We practiced writing each and identifying how many 2 was.  The kids also created trees to resemble Fall trees.  We were also busy in the 4/5 class learning about sequencing, playing the fall M&M game, creating Fall trees, and showing me all they know about their colors, numbers, shapes and letters!   What a fun week!

Next week we will be learning about Fire Safety!  The Wanamingo Fire Department will be coming on Thursday to show us what they wear when they fight fires, tell us about fire prevention, and show us their new fire truck!  We will also be learning about the letter F and number 3!  It will be a fun week!

Week 2

This week we started our unit on Apples.  As I'm sure many of you read the note that went home on Thursday about our week and what we did.  We made applesauce which was probably the best I have ever had!  They did a great job mashing the apples that had been in the crockpot all morning.  We also made stained glass apples, painted with Apples, and number identification with apples and worms.  The kids also made their own eaten apple out of construction paper...they had to put the puzzle together before they glued it on their paper!  It was a fun week!

This week we have decided to extend our unit on Fall and talk more about the changing season and leaves.  We will be working on the letter L and number 2 this week!

It's homecoming this week!!!

Week 1 of Preschool

This week was very busy in our Wanamingo Preschool room!  We had so much fun learning about Chester Raccoon, The Kissing Hand, and Chester Raccoon and the Big Bad Bully!  We began learning the Kenyon Wanamingo Bully Pledge.  Bullying is not tolerated at Kenyon Wanamingo Schools.  All students in the Elementary will be saying the pledge on a weekly basis to remind us all that we should befriend others and not bully them.  The kids also helped me paint a large box which will be our make believe school bus! Thanks so much for all your generous donations of items that were on the tree outside our door!  I can't believe all the leaves are gone! 

It was a great week!  I hope the kids had as much fun as Ms. Betty and I did!  Have a great weekend!

First Day of Preschool MTH Class

What a fun day!  We read the book The Kissing Hand by Audry Penn and learned how to sign "I love you" in sign language!! They all did so GREAT!  Ask them if they can sign it for you!  They also made their own Kissing Hand to bring home. 
At the sensory table they were able to use their hands to explore shaving cream and predict what color red and yellow make....orange!  They drew letters and pictures in their saving cream as well...what a fun activity!  They all wanted to know when it was their turn to try it!

***Picture day is on Wednesday 9/14/2011. Come anytime during the school day since we don't               have preschool Wednesday.

Picture Day!!!

Picture day at KW Elementary is Wednesday, September 14th!!  We do not have preschool on Wednesday, but if you would like your child's picture taken you may come it at any time throughout the school day on Wednesday to have it taken.  I will be sending home the picture order form on Monday PM class and Tuesday AM class.  If your child attends KW Kids they will be able to bring them to get their picture taken as long as they have their form with them.

All Things New!

Welcome to my Kenyon Wanamingo Preschool Blog!!!  I am very excited to use this Blog as a form of communication between parents and myself!  As school begins I hope to post information on upcoming events, what we are up to, and possibly pictures when I have some to post!  Please have some patience with me...for this is my first blog!  This year will be fun and exciting; I am looking forward to it and I am hoping you and your child are as well!  See you in September!
